First a little history on Stearns and Foster:

Stearns and Foster was Founded in 1846 by George S. Stearns and Seth Foster.

Mattresses are handcrafted by certified craftsmen. It takes twice as long to create a Stearns and foster mattress than a similar innerspring mattress. Another interesting detail is that every master craftsman signs every single mattress. Most of our repeat customers or customers who own a Stearns a Foster mattress in the past don’t want to see any other brand other than Stearns & Foster when buying a new mattress.

This is our most popular. This frame will help you keep the mattress set off the floor. Box-spring or foundation is required to use this frame. It has a headboard bracket that is bolt on if you need to attach a headboard. 

It is available in Twin, Full, Queen, King and California King.

Bolt on Rails

For headboard and a foot board you need rails. 

This rail has a bolt on headboard and foot board attachment plate.

It is available in Twin, Full, Queen, King and California King.

It comes with adjustable legs.

Hook rails

Rails are design for headboard and foot board.

Most wooden bed frames are made for hook on rails. This metal hook on rails will be a good option if you need to replace your broken wood rails.

What is the best mattress for a child?

Information to help you make the right decision when buying a mattress for your child.

Things to consider:

• Mattress Size
• Room Size
• Age of Child
• Budget

Selecting a Mattress Size

Most parents select twin or full size. Also, you will be able to find more options of bedroom sets and comforters/ bedding for kids on these sizes.

Twin size mattress dimension:

38” X 75”

Full size mattress dimensions:

54” X 75”

Other options are:

Twin Extra-long (38” X 80”) and Queen Size (60” x 80”)

If you need a box spring/foundation for your child's mattress is good to know that you can select a 2” Bunkie board or a 5” low profile box other than the standard 9” box to have a lower bed. Specially for a child that is transitioning from a toddler bed to a regular bed.

 Room Size

Most of the time, the room size will be the main factor in determining the size of the mattress.

If the room is small but your child is tall, a twin extra-long will be a very good option since it takes the same space as a twin on width but it is as long as a queen and king.

Age of Child

When a child is transitioning from a crib mattress to a regular mattress. My best advice is to select a mattress that will last 10 years. A mattress that is soft on top but has very good support. It is important to select a mattress that will give good support specially in this age when they are growing. A good night sleep will also help your child at school as well.

Now, if you have a teenager that is soon going to college and need a mattress for 1 – 3 years you can select something more basic.

Two things to consider when buying a mattress for an older child:

Will he/she take this mattress to college?

In this case, we recommend a twin extra-long. It’s the most popular size for college students.

Will I use this mattress for a guest room after my child goes to college?
