What is the best mattress for a child?

Selecting a Mattress Size

Most parents select twin or full size. Also, you will be able to find more options of bedroom sets and comforters/ bedding for kids on these sizes.

Twin size mattress dimension:

38” X 75”

Full size mattress dimensions:

54” X 75”

Other options are:

Twin Extra-long (38” X 80”) and Queen Size (60” x 80”)

If you need a box spring/foundation for your child's mattress is good to know that you can select a 2” Bunkie board or a 5” low profile box other than the standard 9” box to have a lower bed. Specially for a child that is transitioning from a toddler bed to a regular bed.

Room Size

Most of the time, the room size will be the main factor in determining the size of the mattress.

If the room is small but your child is tall, a twin extra-long will be a very good option since it takes the same space as a twin on width but it is as long as a queen and king.

Age of Child

When a child is transitioning from a crib mattress to a regular mattress. My best advice is to select a mattress that will last 10 years. A mattress that is soft on top but has very good support. It is important to select a mattress that will give good support specially in this age when they are growing. A good night sleep will also help your child at school as well.

Now, if you have a teenager that is soon going to college and need a mattress for 1 – 3 years you can select something more basic.

Will he/she take this mattress to college?
